“Dunkirk” is overly loud and underly plotted, with artsy time-shifting that does more to confound than to explicate, while deserving of a Best Actor nomination for Tom Hardy’s left eye, which is all we see of him behind goggles throughout the movie.

Saw it with a young lady today, and thought it was a helluva film: just one damn thing after another. Only problem, as you noted, is with the editing, which starts with a multitude of characters, follows some on into the night, then goes back to others hours earlier, then back, then over again, then…. Didn’t bother the young lady a bit; she kept jumping up & down in her seat, grabbing me by the neck & shaking me, screaming & throwing popcorn at the Germans…..
