Write like Vonnegut

vonnegut3.jpgActually, I’m not sure that’s possible. You could imitate him, but not be him, nor would you want to. (Especially because he’s dead.)

But if you want some useful writing tips from Vonnegut himself, click here. I can’t guarantee your writing will come unstuck, though.

You will notice in reading his advice, by the way, that much of it is oriented toward helping the reader. I love him for that. (Just as playwrights who bore the audience infuriate me.)

Thanks for that link. I went to International Paper’s site to see if the book mentioned at the bottom of the Vonnegut piece was available but it seems to be out of print. Also checked Amazon and searched on Google. No luck.

I remember the series of which that advice was a part. There were also contributions by Steve Allen and Stephen King, both of which I enjoyed. Not sure where I read them. Maybe Rolling Stone? I tore a few of them out and they may be neatly tucked away somewhere in our basement. Maybe I’ll encounter the book by International Paper in a thrift store or a library sale.
