World’s biggest library, or world’s biggest censor?

Here’s another reason it’s never good for any one concern to aggregate too much power. Amazon, bookseller to the world and inventor of print-slayer The Kindle, is censoring the “adult” books by removing their sales rankings. Without defining what “adult” means. And without copping to doing it. And while still selling sex toys online.

Please tell me this is accidental.

If you think that’s bad, try going into any library and asking where they keep the trashy books.

Amazon probably doesn’t want to let the public see just how many naughty books they’re shipping. I imagine the number is quite high. Think of the uproar from bluenoses. Not that I would ever browse those titles, let alone — Heaven forfend — purchase them. (Though I have heard that HARRIET MARWOOD, ENGLISH GOVERNESS, is quite interesting.)
