So Hollywood

Driving home from auditions for my play in Hollywood today, I passed Darth Vader and Elmo walking together down Highland Blvd.  Darth Vader had his helmet off and was carrying R2D2. Elmo waved to me. This was not a pairing I expected to see, but at the same time, none of it seemed unusual. So I guess I really have been out here for almost 25 years.

I thought about this for a moment or two, and then I thought of young Luke Skywalker in Episode IV of
Star Wars…then I thought about you…then I thought of young Buster Keaton and his train – The General, playing a young rebel against the ‘Dark Blue’ of The Union. Keaton battling Darth Vader is a reach across generations that look for adventure in the darkness of movie theaters.

I have NO idea where all this came from, but what is to become of dark theaters in an age of i-Phones and super Televisions?
I’d love to see Darth and Johnnie Gray in a digitally adapted screen play that could bring them
together across the centuries….I wonder if your Darth, Elmo and R2 got into an old Honda together and drove home to a bungalow in Reseda? I miss Los Angeles.
