My soothfast friend, I love that word. Especially on the attack, used more than once, and directed at Sir Mittens last year, to wit: “I contemn him!”
However, in this, my cumbrous attempts at keeping up with one so nimble of keelivine, I do feel I flinch.
Odds-fish.

My favorite obsolete words are those I have seen die in my lifetime. Like the verb “to founder” which has been replaced by “to flounder.” Or “Alternative” which has been replaced by “Alternate” (as in life-style; strictly speaking the only people with alternate life-styles were Jekyll and Hyde.) Or the word “use” which has been almost completely replaced by “utilize” in the speech and writing of those who fear their thoughts won’t sound important enough.
