Fascinating article. Perhaps the funeral director could offer to mail the ashes to families who can’t afford the cost of travel to pick them up. As a mailcarrier, I have delivered creamated remains.
And then there was the wish of jazzman Roland Kirk. He said that when he died he wanted to be cremated, have his ashes mixed with some good pot, and be smoked by all his friends.

You know how every funeral procession has a motorcycle escort? Well, if it was my funeral, and I requested it, would they let me ride in the side-car?
