Sad to say, my boss beat them to this idea: two of the people I work with have been told they get to keep their health insurance but there’s no promise of them being paid for their hours unless we get a job (I’m in a different position and am slightly more secure). This on top of back pay owed us (me included). Is it crazier that one of them accepted this (and the other is considering it) or that it was offered in the first place?
At the Post Office we have a hiring freeze. That leaves us shorthanded. Management doesn’t want us using sick leave, and is going to review any time we’ve taken off for illness or injuries. They say they can’t afford to have call-outs because — well — they created a situation in which we don’t have enough workers.
