Happy 4th

The Fourth of July isn’t until tomorrow, but today it feels like it’s Christmas that came early:  Sarah Palin is resigning her governorship. Why? No one knows — least of all, it seems, her. She says she “knows when it’s time to go,” and I’m sure that everyone who actually voted for her knows when that time is too:  when her term is over. Resigning early tells us there’s something up, even if we don’t know what it is yet. I’m sure that right now all my theatre friends in Alaska are cheering and buying rounds of drinks.

Man, that election last fall is the gift that keeps on giving.

I’ve heard some comments that she wants to run for President in 2012 and this is a way that she can focus on that.

I think that by quitting the post she can then say any thing she wants and does not have to worry about commentators pointing out her failures or having to fight for re-election.

I can hear the bloggers and Keith Olbermann screaming now that when the going got tough she bailed out on her state rather then actually try to govern.

Re-watch that speech, you only need to scroll thru it about 30 seconds, have a look at the throngs of onlookers, the audience is most entertaining part. The ‘officialdom’ on the ‘dias’ outnumbers the audience by a healthy ratio. I just LOVE that woman! Only Lucy is zanier, well okay maybe Zazu Pitts too. I’m so sure that Newt was deeply moved.

I just wanted to add another comment on this:

Maureen Dowd in the NY Times today unveiled the first campaign slogan of 2012…

Palin/Sanford… : “Save time — we’re already in Crazy Town.”

…the gift that keeps giving indeed.
