Gullibility test

OK, so the Rapture wasn’t Saturday.

That hasn’t deterred Harold Camping, who now explains Saturday’s non-event in two ways:

  1. It’s actually been postponed ’til October (which is good for those of us who had summer plans); and
  2. It actually happened, but it was “a spiritual coming,” which means, again, that we’re still on for October.

I’m proffering three further explanations.

  1. He’s deranged;
  2. He’s a con man;
  3.  Both

In any event, what would be truly inexplicable would be for people to continue to listen to him. I like to think that if God had something to say right now, he’d choose a better vessel.

    What is that definition of insanity? Sonething about doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different result….

    I’ve read someplace that in groups like this, the followers continue to follow and accept the next date, and the next, and the next. Evidently it is less difficult for them to deal with a delay, than with having been total fools.

    Also recommend “The End”, a sketch from Beyond the Fringe about 50 years ago, completely relevant to this matter, and as funny today as it was when it was new.

    Commemorative coffee mugs are available at Esty dot com.

    Mine was custom made, and states: “When I get to hell, they’d better all be there”.
