How is it possible to run a marathon with no ill effect, and then throw out your back by washing the dog?

Hey, I just did that, too. Ruth was washing one dog in the kitchen sink. I was sitting on the floor holding another one who wanted to jump up on her. The dog I had might have thought the other one was suffering, because she got wild and tried to squirm out of my arms. I reached for something while holding her and — OWTCH — there went the lower back. Muscle spasms galore. I’ve had this before so I put heat on it and did my therapy exercises. The next day I wisely went back to carrying my mailman route, which is helpful… except for all the pain.

I pulled my back not after work hard on my lawn but when washing my face after I had finished working.
