No bid
Here’s someone else who’s not buying Meg Whiman’s bid for governor of California: the founder of EBay, who hired her to run the company.
In fairness, he notes that she was “a fantastic executive” while at EBay. But how that translates to running the state of California remains to be seen.

At least she has some experience in the real business world, meeting a payroll, managing many employees and trying to keep a company solvent, unlike some Presidents I know.

Running the government is not like running “the real business world,” as I discussed here https://leewochner.com/blog/?p=1096 . Billionaire CEOs can bully around employees (as we see in her treatment of her maid); governors can do some of that, but much of it is working deals with legislators on both sides to get legislation passed. She has zero experience with this. Her great success at EBay is about as relevant to the governorship of California as Picasso’s great success as a painter. Jerry Brown’s experience as a successful governor is one of the reasons the LA Times endorsed him: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/editorials/la-ed-governor-20101003,0,913011.story The other is Meg Whitman’s consistency in being absolutely wrong about why California doesn’t work, and being wrong in what to do about it.
