Cunning, or “too” cunning?
California politics never ceases to entertain.
The other day, Steve Poizner, one of the GOP candidates for governor, accused rival Meg Whitman of “extortion and bribery” for suggesting that her campaign should explore ways to get Poizner out of the race. The LA Times’ George Skelton, often the voice of pragmatism, says that either this “wild-eyed accusation” is an “attention-grabbing stunt by a desperate dark horse” — or, essentially, Poizner is nuts. (Others might say both.)
In other news, the California Democratic Party has taken to calling disastrous Hewlett Packard CEO — and now Senate candidate! — Carly Fiorina “Carly Failorina.” That made me laugh out loud. They’ve even launched a website — and here it is. Hey, if some of my CDP donations have gone to this, I have to write a bigger check.

Here’s a link to a Carly Fiornia attack ad that is possibly the most bizarre ad I have ever seen. I want to know what drugs the person who made it was taking.

WOW. I LOVE that! Thanks for sharing!
This attack ad is narrowly aimed — at the passionate Republican base of primary voters. These are the most conservative of the conservative — they loathe Arnold Schwarzenegger, hence the determination in this video to associate Tom Campbell with Arnold. And to say he’s for tax increases, and against tax cuts.
This is going to be an ugly and highly enjoyable (for Democrats) race.

And I thought the New Jersey GOP primary was bad last year. The California Republicans seem to acting like canibals. What ever happened to Regan’s rule that you don’t speak badly about your fellow Republicans?

Reagan. So last century. They carry his name like a tribute banner, but they ignore his actual record. Here’s an insight — from that liberal bastion, FORBES MAGAZINE — about “Reagan tax cuts”:
“As the table below demonstrates, Reagan signed into law major tax increases every year of his presidency after the first. By the end of his presidency, he took back half of the 1981 tax cut in the form of higher taxes. And it should also be noted that when confronted with a crisis in Social Security in 1983, Reagan endorsed a rescue plan drafted by Alan Greenspan that consisted almost entirely of higher taxes.”

The GOP carries around Reagan’s name — like Lincoln’s — but their positions are not his.

Carly is looking more and more like my number one choice for Most Pompous Baby Boomer in History – up to the present. And that’s including Donald Trump.

Thanks Paul, I was looking for that ad all day. By the way, isn’t Mrs. Fiorina just the sweetest thing you’ve ever seen? All her millions too, and she hasn’t gotten that overlap in her front teeth fixed yet. Good. Think “Croc” from the Broadway version of Peter Pan: A full set of choppers with a ticking clock in her belly. Ew.
