Figure your carbon footprint

Here’s an interactive map that helps you figure your carbon footprint.

My daily commute, annualized, is 352. Take that, Al Gore.

Okay, I know you’re a Mac guy, too. I keep getting a message that says “Only version 1.0 of Microsoft Silverlight supports the Macintosh PowerPC.” and I get no help finding a way install version 1.0…

I saw that message too. And ignored it and clicked through and everything worked fine.

It worked when I used Safari instead of Firefox. Of course, the test only offers walking, bicycling or automobiles as means of transportation so my carbon footprint of zero is wrong: I do walk to and from work frequently but not every day and the subway isn’t an option here. Plus, I have a window-unit air conditioner, two computers and lots of other electronic equipment that are frequently running, one lamp that we leave on when we’re out (it has a compact fluorescent in it but still)… and when I go on vacation, unless it’s to Philadelphia (where we take commuter rail), we’re flying… But New Yorkers, in general, probably have a lower carbon footprint than the average American.
